Evergreen Area Police report

Drowning
2600 block of Flintwood Court
Officers responded to the above location on a possible drowning. Upon arrival, the 2 year-old male victim had been pulled from a backyard pool and was non-responsive. Relatives attempted to revive the boy until the ambulance arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Several relatives were visiting the home, when the adults suddenly noticed the boy was missing. As a search began, one of the relatives found him in the bottom of the pool, in about four feet of water.

City Vehicle Accident
Yerba Buena Road/Baronet Court
A city of San Jose Parks and Recreation truck and trailer were against the curb waiting to merge onto eastbound Yerba Buena. A bicyclist had just exited the creek bike path and attempted to pass the truck on the right. The truck or trailer struck the bicyclist as it pulled forward. The bicyclist sustained a cut foot and his wife transported him home.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Strong Arm Robbery
Meadow Fair Park
At about 5 p.m., the police responded to the 2600 block of Puccini Avenue on an assault call. The victim reported that he was assaulted by a group of people at the Meadow Fair Park. The suspects took the victim’s bicycle following the attack. The victim sustained a non-life threatening injury to his facial area. The victim was treated by the San Jose Fire Department at the scene. Five juvenile suspects were arrested during the follow-up investigation.

Cultivation of Marijuana
1400 Block of Meadow Glen Way
Officers responded to the above residence on a welfare check. The reporting party stated there was a disturbance. The suspects fled the scene as the officers attempted contact at the front door. One of the suspects was arrested at a nearby location. The search of the house following the arrest revealed a sophisticated marijuana-growing operation.
Over 200 marijuana plants were taken from the residence. Two suspects were booked into the main jail for the above charges.

Safe Passage Traffic Safety Program
Citywide
The Safe Passage Program is a collaborative between Traffic Enforcement and dayshift patrol teams that ensures the safe passage of students to school. It resulted in the issuance of 1,169 traffic citations and 279 warnings to motorists.
Thirty-nine vehicles were impounded and 14 arrests made. The Department of Transportation had assisted by placing three of its radar display trailers and the SJPD’s two radar display trailers and message display boards at various schools throughout the city.
