Eastridge partners with Santa Clara family Health Plan to celebrate healthy kids on April 28
Eastridge will partner with Santa Clara Family Health Plan on Saturday, April 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the fourth annual “Kid’s Fun Day,” celebrating healthy kids in schools with dance and music groups, school and community information tables and more.
A free raffle from Eastridge’s stores including AMC Eastridge 15, Auntie Anne’s, Starbucks and Sport Chalet will be held every hour. The event will take place at Lower Level Center Court near Starbucks.
Developed by East Side Schools Children’s Health Initiative (ESCHI), Kid’s Fun Day is a celebration of healthy kids in our schools. Kids will get to enjoy fun activities including face painting and crafts, while parents will have an opportunity to apply for free or low cost health care for teens and children, as well as registering children to enter kindergarten for fall 2007.
A wide array of community groups will also be present to offer additional community information including the City of San Jose, the San Jose Police Department, California State Assembly Member Joe Coto, First 5, Kaiser, Blue Cross, the Eastside Union High School District, Evergreen Community College and many others. In addition, free finger printing and vision screening will be offered to children.
This year’s collaborative includes Leti Gutierrez, President of the Alum Rock Educators Association, David Hernandez of the California Teachers Association, Charlotte Newman of the East Side Union High School District Child Development Program, Felix Alvarez of Santa Clara Family Health Plan, Pilar Furlong of School Health Clinics and more than a dozen individuals.
"Eastridge is proud to offer Kid’s Fun Day and enhance health and educational opportunities for children,” said Alice Snyder, Marketing Manager of Eastridge. “The partnership between Eastridge and the East Side Schools Children’s Health Initiative reinforces the commitment by both companies to be for the good of the community.”
At 11:30 a.m. during the event, Eastridge will host its second Hometown Heroes Award ceremony, honoring educators in the community who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. Snyder and Alvarez will be presenting this year’s Hometown Heroes awards. Each recipient will receive a certificate of recognition and Apple Daisies Arrangement Basket from Edible Arrangements.
