Community meets to discuss new fire station
Plans for a new fire station were the topic of discussion at a community meeting for new Fire Station #36 on March 27. The new station will be built on a corner of Silver Creek’s Linear Park in a vacant grassy area at Silver Creek and Yerba Buena Roads.
The meeting was to inform Evergreen residents about the new station and get community input on the design of the building and public art. The station is currently in the design process with construction tentatively scheduled to begin a year from now. The station construction would be completed by the spring of 2009.
The city is using the area of Linear Park for a fire station as an opportunity for the community to voice opinions on how to improve the long, narrow park. The meeting was also held to find out what the community would like to specifically see in the park area.
The fire station will replace fire station #24 on Aborn Road that is too small and join two others, station #11 in the Villages and station #31 near Lunardi’s.
