First annual Tom Matsumoto School Walk-A-Thon
Calling all students and parents from Matsumoto School!
On Thursday, April 13 the entire school will celebrate being healthy by participating in its first ever Walk-A-Thon. This is a major fundraiser for the school, and Evergreen families are encouraged to sponsor Matsumoto students. Sponsors can pledge $1 per lap or a flat pledge of $10 or more.
With classroom budgets being cut this year, there weren’t any extra funds to help pay for supplies in art, science, math, technology and countless other activities. The money earned from the fundraiser will go directly to pay for these much needed supplies.
School parents are encouraged to come and walk with their students the day of the event. Be sure to check the times of each grade level’s hour on the track. If you are able to help support in any way, please contact Susan Shirley at Matsumoto School (408) 223-4873.
Silver Creek High School to begin groundbreaking on $14 million renovation
Silver Creek High School will begin groundbreaking for a new classroom and a 300+ foot streetscape along Silver Creek Road at 10 a.m. on April 10.
The 17,000 square foot building will contain nine classrooms and four science labs, and will provide space for 400-450 students, prompting the removal of 13 obsolete portable buildings currently on campus. The streetscape features new perimeter fencing, lights and landscaping. The $14 million project, which is funded by Measure G, is expected to be completed in late spring 2007 by Blach Construction.
The 30-minute groundbreaking ceremony features speakers Thelma Boac, Principal of Silver Creek High School, Bob Nunez, Superintendent of the East Side Union High School District, and Alan Garofalo, Chief Operations Officer for the school district.
