The Best Wealth is Your Health

Victory over menstrual frustration is possible
with chiropractic treatment

The year I swore I would surf more and date less, a diversion came into my life in the form of a beautiful five-foot, two-inch 23-year-old brunette.

On our third date we got on the topic of her menstrual cycles. Not exactly third date appropriate dialogue but here is how it went:

Her cycles began in the seventh grade like a waking giant. Every other month she had extreme pain that would put her in the emergency room doubled over in agony.

There she would be given a narcotic injection to fight the pain and regain her sanity. The pain felt like being gored in the gut by a walloping halfback pushing to get in the end zone. She would then be out of school for three days with uncontrollable vomiting.

This fragile 12-year-old went through three years of mom taking her to the hospital regularly. Then at 15, a female medical doctor found a lemon-sized cyst on her left ovary. Finally a diagnosis!

It was ascertained that the episodes had been the effects of ruptured cysts expelling toxins in her system.

At this point I’m asking myself, “What am I signing up for here? This gal could be difficult!”

Well, help came at 15 in the form of “the pill.” This stopped the pain.

“What about the ability to have children?” I thought.

Four years later she wanted to see if her body could function on its own and went off the drugs. The pain did not return but neither did her menstrual cycles. No, not even a pseudo cycle at the age of 19.

After 4 years of this, doctors began to worry and began Progesterone injections. These resulted in headaches, altered moods, perfuse sweating and what she called “craziness.” The menstrual cycles were still nowhere to be found.
My heart cried out to her and the caregiver in me longed to place my educated chiropractic hands on her spine.

I then explained to her how the ovaries are controlled by the brain, which sends signals down the spinal cord. The spinal cord then branches out. These branches, which are the nerves, exit from between the vertebrae (bones of the spine) and send life giving messages to every organ, gland and tissue of the body. If these bones lose position, I stated, the vital information can be interfered with. When this happens, organs can experience disease and malfunction.

She decided to come in to my office and get an exam. I began checking and adjusting the malpositions of her spine 2 to 3 days per week. In almost four months of care she had the first normal menstrual cycle of her adult life. This precious brunette was not only healthy, but on her way to becoming my bride. We have been exquisitely happily married since 2003 and are blessed in every way.

If you would like to see research on the subject of chiropractic and menstrual cycles or be examined to see if you can be helped, please give my office a call at (408) 274-2244.
