Do you want to be a singing idol?

Back by popular de-mand… Evergreen Branch Idol and San José Idol!
Will you be the next San José Teen Idol? If you're 12-19 years old and live in the City of San José, then you can compete for a chance to win the San Jose Public Library's second annual San Jose Idol competition!
The first stage is the Evergreen Branch Idol held on Saturday, Apr. 26 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Com-munity Room. Registration will begin at 10:30, in the Community Room. Everyone will get a chance to sign up and sing. The first prize is $50 and the winner will advance to the San José Idol Final on Saturday, May 17 at the Martin Luther King, Jr Library in downtown San José. The second prize is $25 and this singer will have the possibility of going downtown and singing, if the first-place winner is not available. The third prize is $10. All singers will receive a certificate thanking them for their performance. Complete rules will be available in the library at the information desk.
Are you a senior or currently a caregiver for aging family members? Representatives from local aging organizations will answer your questions and provide information about their senior programs and services. The participating organizations include Catholic Charity Day Break, Kaiser Permanente, Family Caregiver Alliance, Community Center and Office of Aging, City of San Jose, Lifelong Fitness Alliance and Senior Nutrition Program of Dept. of Aging & Adult services, Santa Clara County. The Evergreen Branch Library’s Senior Health Fair will be held in the Community Room from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, Apr. 12. All are welcome.

Integral Tai Chi Classes
Mondays, 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the Community Room
Integral Tai Chi is a self-healing system that integrates tai chi, yoga, relaxation and meditation to heal the mind, body and spirit.
Conversation Club
Wednesdays, 12:30–1:30 p.m. in Study Room A
Adults are invited to join our Conversation Club to practice their English language skills.
Citizenship Class
Prepare for the citizenship test with others in a class setting. We will be learning about American history and government. Practice tests will be available.

- Evergreen Library, Study Room A, first and third Tuesdays, at 7:00 p.m. Classes will be taught in English and Vietnamese and taught by Hanh Luc
- Evergreen Library, Study Room A, first and third Wednesdays, at 7:00 p.m. Classes will be in English and Chinese and taught by Librarian Shu-Hua Liu
- Sikh Gurdwara, Saturdays, 2:00-4:00 p.m. Classes will be in Hindi, Panjabi and English and taught by Dr. Sraon
teensReach Meeting
Friday, Apr. 18, 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Community Room
Join our teensReach group and learn about volunteering in the library. Help us finalize the plans for EVERGREEN IDOL!
Asian Law Alliance – Citizenship Assistance
Saturday, Apr. 19, 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. in the Quiet Study Room
Asian Law Alliance will be at the Evergreen Library to assist those who wish to apply for US citizenship. Services in English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Vietnamese will include review of eligibility for citizenship, free assistance in filling up the citizenship forms and medical waivers, free legal advice, and preparation for the naturalization test.

Storytimes
- Preschool Storytime, for ages 3-5, Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m.
- Mother Goose Time, for ages 0-2, Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m.
- Family Storytime, for children of all ages, Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.
- Toddler Storytime, Fridays at 11:30 a.m.
- After these storytimes, there will be Stay & Play. Stay & Play is an opportunity for parents to socialize while their children play with educational toys.
Fabulous Friday Kids' Book Club
Friday, Apr. 11, 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Community Room
Bring a book to share with the group. Something that you're reading for fun, a book that you've loved, or even one you've hated! Let's vote on a book to read as a group.
Hindi/English Storytime
Saturday, Apr. 12, 11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. in the Children’s Room
Join us for a bilingual Hindi and English storytime. Songs, stories and fun for the entire family.
Month of the Young Child - School Readiness
Saturday, Apr. 19, 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in the Community Room
School success is dependant on a relationship between the child, school and family. Come learn what you can do to help get your child ready for and be successful in school. We will discuss the parent/child building blocks for success in school.
