David Maley, a former San Jose Shark, was looking for a place to relocate his rink for indoor hockey. He found an ideal place in Evergreen just of Hellyer Avenue in a business park, but it was a huge building.
The same kind of aggressive action that made him an excellent player in the National Hockey League led him to form the Silver Creek Sportsplex. By finding related businesses to team with, he created the largest sports and fitness facility under one roof in North America.
On Saturday, Mar. 15, the Silver Creek Sportsplex held its grand opening. San Jose Shark players and Sharkie met with the fans for photos and autographs, political leaders presented commendations, and young sports enthusiasts played hockey, soccer, and arcade games. Others toured the spa and the Club One fitness center as long lines of visitors partook of the free lunch.
The Sportsplex has a wide variety of activities. Rollin’ Ice offers hockey leagues and instruction for all ages on three rinks. Soccer players have four fields in Striker’s Den. Club One Fitness has the latest workout equipment, a childcare center, and two swimming pools
Members and non-members may use the Banyan Spa. LOL (Laugh out loud) parties can be held in the area with inflatable slides. A pro shop, events for team building and a restaurant (under construction) add to the amenities.
The day of family fun brought many people to enjoy this new addition to activities in San Jose.
