“I wanted to understand how motors work,” said Katherine Nguyen, as she stood beside her winning science project.
Nguyen and her eighth-grade teammates at Chaboya Middle School were among the 600 or so students present at the Evergreen School District 2007-2008 Science Fair. The gym floor at Quimby Oak Middle School displayed the 239 winning projects to the crowd of family and friends who attended the Fair.
“This year’s Fair was very successful," said Steve Sweeney, assistant principal, Matsumoto. Sweeny said the Fair has been held annually for nearly 20 years.
Each of the 19 elementary and middle schools in the district held competitions and the winners in each of the grade levels brought their projects to the Science Fair. The boys and girls of Evergreen demonstrated that interest in science is strong.
