Six Cub Scouts from the Lightning Patrol of Evergreen-based Pack 264 received Cub Scouting’s highest honor, the Arrow of Light Award, on March 4.
Lightning Patrol members Casey Blum, Drew Gallatin, Imran Najam, Jack Murphy, Neil Waggitt and Austin Weatherholt received this award.
Joshua Granger of the “Order Of The Arrow,” a group that serves as scouting’s National Honor Society, presented each of the Arrow of Light recipients with an individual, custom-made arrow decorated to represent all of the awards and achievements each scout had gathered during his entire Cub Scouting career.
During the ceremony, the scouts had symbolic markings painted on their faces, representing several of the core beliefs of scouting, such as respecting the environment and nature and affirming the importance of good citizenship, good conduct and respect for others.
The scouts also crossed a wooden bridge that signified their graduation from Cub Scouting, and for several, their crossing over into Boy Scouts.
