Attempted Burglary
Hound Estates Court
A homeowner interrupted an attempted burglary of her home. The suspect is described as a white male adult, early 20s, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. The suspect tried to force entry via a back sliding glass door. He fled when confronted and left the area in a vehicle driven by a second suspect, described as a white adult male, 35 years old, with a reddish face. The getaway vehicle is described as a white 1980s American automobile. Due to the string of burglaries in the area, an evidence car responded and assisted in the investigation and collection of evidence.

Auto Burglary
Ruby Road/ Norwood Avenue
Officers were conducting patrol in the area of Ruby and Norwood when they interrupted a burglary in progress. The suspects attempted to flee, until they collided with a parked vehicle. One suspect was taken into custody without incident. The second suspect began jumping fences into residential yards. A perimeter was established and canines conducted a search. The second suspect is outstanding and follow up is being conducted.

Burglary
Fontaine /Alvin
Officers were conducting foot patrol in Team 71’s impact area. They observed three juveniles leaving the area of an apartment complex, which had been secured after a fire. They contacted the individuals and located a large safe nearby. The juveniles confessed to burglarizing the apartment building. In addition, earlier in the evening, officers were conducting foot patrol in the same area, when they attempted to contact a suspicious person. The suspect fled and was apprehended in a foot pursuit. The suspect was identified, revealing he was wanted on a felony warrant.

Tobacco Sting
Citywide
Between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., the Community Services Division conducted several Youth Tobacco Stings throughout the city of San Jose. The purpose of the stings is to ensure that retailers are complying with appropriate state laws regarding sales of tobacco to minors. They made 51 controlled buys, with just one of the buys resulting in sales to a minor. One citation was issued.

Pedestrian Hit by Car
Holly Oak Elementary
2900 block of Rossmore Way
A parent driving in front of Holly Oak Elementary School struck a pedestrian (another parent). Paramedics and the San Jose Police Department arrived on the scene. It was not a fatal accident. The school has been attempting to secure a traffic crossing guard since last fall, but to date, the city has just offered to hold traffic safety seminars for students and parents.

Officer Involved Accident
Capitol Expressway at Nieman
An officer was driving his patrol vehicle northbound on Capitol Expressway. A shopping cart was lying on its side in the number four lane. The officer did not see the cart and hit it was his front bumper. There were no injuries.
