Swingin’ into spring
 |
While Major League Baseball players are getting ready for the 2006 season with spring training camps in Arizona and Florida, not to mention the inaugural World Baseball Classic, Evergreen Little Leaguers are also getting in on the act.
Shown here is 12-year-old Matt Crema as he warms up his arm during his first practice of the year at the LeyVa Middle School baseball field on March 6. Crema plays for the Reds in the Evergreen Little League Majors Division.
The 2006 Evergreen Little League baseball and softball seasons are just around the corner, with opening day ceremonies set for March 18. Although no games will take place on opening day, Evergreen Little Leaguers will appear dressed in uniform and take part in an opening day parade, marching onto the Chaboya Middle School baseball field, where they will salute the American flag an recite the Little League pledge.
Following the parade, Little Leaguers and their families will take part in a barbeque and enjoy a carnival set up by the league.
