Fire on Norcross Drive
Firefighters responded to several 911 reports of a house on fire on Norcross Drive just after 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 4.
On arrival, fire units extended hose lines inside and to rear area of structure to attack the fire. The fire had extended into the house already from a small shed that was attached to or, very near the back of residence. The fire heavily damaged 2 bedrooms and one-third of the attic, also causing smoke and water damage throughout the rest of the house. According to Captain Michael Shaw, Public Information Officer for the San Jose Fire Department, the fire appeared to have started in the shed and spread into the house, but a definitive cause was still undetermined at press time.
A second alarm was called to assist with the overhaul and final extinguishing process because of the excessive amount of material inside the structure. Red Cross was called to assist the eight people who were displaced.
