The San Jose Youth Symphony Preludes and Intermezzo String Ensembles will be performing at Le Petit Trianon, the beautiful downtown San Jose landmark, located at 72 North Fifth Street from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Admission is free. Due to construction in the area, parking is tricky (but doable.)

The Brubeck Institute Sextet performs in concert at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Almaden Adventures in the Arts concert series at Joint Ventures Churches of Almaden, 6581 Camden Avenue, San Jose. Chosen from a pool of gifted high school musicians, the Brubeck Institute sextet is a cross section of the top 18 – 19 aged players from across the country. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door for adults and $8 in advance and $10 at the door for students. Childcare will be provided. For more information, call 268-0243.
DANCE

Join Vidhya Subramanian and Lasya Dance Company’s upcoming “Living Sculptures” performance as the group explores the mutuality between Indian sculpture and dance. Through the ages, dancers have given form to the sculptor’s imagination and sculpture has inspired dancers to achieve excellence. Living Sculptures will traverse India - paying homage to the Sun God at Konarak and the resplendent Nataraja at the Chidambaram temple, giving life to the inert Belur- Shilabalikas and Ajanta/Ellora nymphs and paving the way to Divine Love through the eroticism embodied in the immortal Khajuraho heroine. The 15th Annual Cinequest Film Festival returns from March 2 – 13 to San Jose with an opening night United States Premiere of Jose Roberto Torero’s romantic comedy “Manual For Love Stories,” guests will have the opportunity to mingle with filmmakers at the Gala event after party held at Paragon Restaurant and Bar in the Hotel Montgomery in downtown San Jose. Screening begins at 7 p.m. on March 2. Tickets for the screening and party are $50, tickets for the screening and awards, $10. American Musical Theater of San Jose presents Michael Bennet’s dazzling masterpiece “A Chorus Line” at the Center for the Performing Arts in downtown San Jose. Winner of nine Tony Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, “A Chorus Line” has enchanted more than six million people during its 15 year run on Broadway, and is now slated for its first-ever Broadway revival in the Fall of 2006. Follow the stories of 18 hopeful dancers auditioning for eight chorus parts in a snapshot of the fierce desires and crippling fears that performers face during the audition process. This AMTSJ performance is directed and choreographed by Kay Cole, who originated the role of “Maggie” on Broadway. The Zarathushtrian Assembly meets on the last Thursday of each month at the Campbell Community Center, One West Campbell Avenue in Campbell.
