Two local high school students receive Eagle Scout Badges
Michael Christensen and Michael Juchau received scouting’s highest advancement rank on Jan. 20 when they received their Eagle Scout Badge at a ceremony held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on San Felipe
Road.
Both belong to Troop 1253 in the Sierra District. Their Scoutmaster is Ed Bennett.
Christensen is a senior at Evergreen Valley High School, where he is a member of the EVHS Marching Band, Winter Percussion, the Jazz Band, and the Drum Line. Christensen won “Most Outstanding Percussionist” and the “Director’s Award” in 2006-07 for the Cougar Marching Band at EVHS. He is an accomplished pianist and currently accompanies and sings with a 32-member choir called Zion. Christensen’s Eagle project involved building much needed storage shelving for band instruments at Evergreen Valley High School.
Juchau is a junior at Silver Creek High School, where he is a member of the Raiders water polo and swim teams. His Eagle project involved collecting items to provide “comfort” and show support for the troops in Iraq. Among other things, he collected sunscreen, lip balm, basketballs, footballs, books, and playing cards. Juchau also raised enough money to purchase a sizeable quantity of phone cards, magazines, and disposable razors. All items were sent to Lima Battery, 3rd Battalion, 10th Marines.
The Christensen and Juchau families appreciate all the support the Evergreen community has given these young men.
