Evergreen Area Police report
Another suspected drunken driver is involved with death. Gary Westover, 36, has been arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol, causing injury. On Feb. 3, shortly before 11 p.m., police were called to a traffic collision at the intersection of Ruby Avenue at Quimby Road.
The suspect was driving a Chevy Silverado pickup truck and witnesses said he ran a red light. The truck collided with a minivan traveling westbound on Quimby. A 6-year-old child, Isaac Young, was a passenger in the rear seat of a Chrysler minivan and was pronounced dead at the scene.
San Jose Police is asking anyone with information about the incident to call (408) 277-4654.

Strong-Arm Robbery
2500 Block of King Road
An unknown male stole a necklace by force from the victim and fled the scene in a vehicle. The victim received a minor cut to her neck but did not require any medical treatment. This event appears to be related to event below and both cases are ongoing

An unknown male entered a store. While in the store, he stole, by force, a necklace from around the victim’s neck and fled the scene in a vehicle. The victim received minor cuts to her neck and did not require any medical treatment. This event appears to be related to event above and both cases are ongoing.

Assault/Battery on an Officer
3100 block of Remington Way
Officer responded to a disturbance at the above location. Police was asked to remove two females that were hiding in the boys’ group home. Officers attempted to remove the females but they became verbally abusive. The officers took the females outside when a fight between the boys broke out inside. The fight escalated and officers needed to use force. The two females were booked into Juvenile Hall for assault and battery on an officer and felony resisting arrest. The male was cited for resisting arrest. Neither the suspects nor the officers were injured.

Attempted Carjacking
1700 Block of Bagpipe Way
A male adult suspect pulled a female from her car and attempted to drive away. The victim was not injured. The suspect did not have the keys. The victim’s brother fought with the suspect, who fled on foot. Suspect located and arrested at Capitol/Tuers. The suspect was on parole, and was booked into county jail.
