Fatal traffic collision on Capitol Expressway and Silver Creek Road Jan. 24

On Tuesday, January 24, at 9:20 PM, San Jose Police Officers responded to an unknown injury traffic collision on westbound Capitol Expressway and Silver Creek Road. Paramedics also responded to the scene and pronounced Rudy Raul Moreno, 42, dead.

A preliminary investigation indicates Moreno was traveling at a high rate of speed in a white 4-door 1988 Mercedes 190E. Moreno drove through the intersection of Capitol Expressway and Silver Creek Road, crossed over the center divide and collided with a white 2-door 1989 Toyota Corolla driven by Harnek Singh, 47, in opposing traffic. Singh’s car was stopped in the eastbound left turn lane of Capitol Expressway.

Singh was transported to a local hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
