The Academy Award nominations were handed out on Tuesday, Jan. 22. Do you think there will be a televised awards ceremony this year because of the Writers’ Guild Strike? Why or Why not? Will you watch it?
(Asked at the Evergreen Branch Library)
“Probably not because the writers haven’t got what they want yet. No, I won’t watch it because we don’t have a television.”
John Castagna, 52

“Yes, it will be on. They don’t care so they will go ahead with it. No, I won’t watch it, it’s not on my [viewing] list. But I do check on the winners online or in the newspaper the next day.”
Steve Rousseau, 56

Analyst
“The show must go on because there’s too much hype and advertising dollars involved. They will find the resources to put it on. I’ll watch bits and pieces.”
Curtis Leighton, 23

Fourth grade teacher in Gilroy
“No, because they didn’t have the Golden Globes. I don’t think they have enough time to get it together. I’ll watch it if I can but it’s not a priority.”
Margery Pickerell, 67

“ I’m under the firm belief that there will be [some sort of show]. If the strike is still on they will read from a list, but actors won’t go on stage without a script. If I’m at a gig no, but if I’m home and can get the channel maybe."
Claire Echo, 24

“Probably some sort of show, at least it will be like the Golden Globes. I’ve never watched it before, so I’m not sure.”
