Music helps children become ‘Fit For Learning’

Bay Area children's musician and songwriter, David "PapaHugs" Sharpe and "The PapaHugs Band" has teamed up with Barnes & Noble, Kaiser Permanente and the Santa Clara County Office of Education to promote the "Fit For Learning Program." This program includes events that entertain and educate students in grades K-6 about fitness and nutrition.

Part of this program includes a book fair with Barnes and Noble. A percentage of all sales during the book fair will be donated by Barnes & Noble to the Santa Clara County Office of Education for distribution to its local schools for equipment, books and "Fit for Learning" curriculum resource guides.

As part of the festival, Sharpe will be unveiling his new song titled "Fit for Learning" along with the new playtime character Fitness the Frog at five Barnes & Noble locations throughout the County.

Sharpe will perform on Saturday, February 16 at Eastridge Barnes & Noble.

Sharpe and "The PapaHugs Band" will also help recognize those who have helped make this program succeed with a performance at the "Fit for Learning Celebration" at The Tech Museum of Innovation January 14th at 4:00 p.m.

"I write and perform music to help make an impact on our youths," said David Sharpe. "I am honored to be a partner in this wonderful program that I know will make a difference."
