Evergreen School District Happenings
Evergreen School District Superintendent, Clif Black and the District’s Board of Trustees hosted a second annual fall strategic planning retreat on September 22, 2008. The purpose of the retreat was to revisit the District’s mission and vision and to monitor progress on its three-year goals.
Participants at the event included parents, community members, teachers, classified staff, District administrators, and administrators from East Side Union High School District and Evergreen College. Facilitated by Marilyn Snider of Snider and Associates, the thirty-six participants began by identifying the District’s strengths and accomplishments since the initial strategic planning retreat, which was held in September 2007 and then moved on to identifying the District’s weaknesses.
The group worked extremely well together and after much reflective discussion, it was agreed that the five goals that were developed last fall are still applicable and should remain. These goals are: to close the achievement gap; maintain quality staffing; achieve fiscal health; improve communication and relationships internally and externally achieve quality leadership at all levels
Action plans were developed to help the District meet its goals and regular updates on progress will be made at District Board meetings.
On another note, at their December 4, 2008 meeting, after much work, deliberation and consideration, the Evergreen School District Board of Trustees approved changes to several schools’ boundaries. These boundary changes will affect students in fourteen of the District’s eighteen schools (students at Millbrook, Holly Oak, J.F. Smith, and Silver Oak are not affected). To find out if this change will affect your student, please visit the Boundary Realignment link on the District’s website at www.eesd.org. The approved changes and implementation plan may be viewed under the December 2008 link. Maps of areas affected by the changes may be viewed under the October 2008 link. Information about the transition process will be sent to families in late January. |
