Retail Roundup: Mexicali Grill

Supervisor Blanca Alvarado of District 2 joined co-owners Jag Kapoor and David Villanueva for the ribbon cutting celebration on Jan. 13. The Mexican restaurant's General Manager Angeles Ricardez (far right) and Manager Elsa Cruz (not pictured) held the ribbon.

Mexicali Grill opened its doors for business at Silver Creek Plaza on Jan. 12, more than two years after Pedro’s closed on the same site at Capital Expressway and the 101 interchange.

Co-owners Jag Kapoor and David Villanueva welcomed throngs of spirited guests to a festive grand opening celebration the next day. Like a cool rain after a long drought, Mexicali Grill is a welcome addition to an area starving for sit-down restuarants.

Special thanks to Windermere Silicon Valley Properties for providing the Santa hours, decorations, photos and craft materials, to Canyon Creek Plaza for donating the Christmas tree and the space, to GMAC for a $1,000 sponsorship and to MegaByte Pizza for donating cookies and hot cider.

Additional thanks to raffle prize donors including United Title, Old Republic Title, Chicago Title and Ohana Gift Baskets.
