In light of the recent pit bull attack on a child and her grandmother off Quimby Road should pit bulls be banned or regulation? What kind of regulations would you recommend?
(Asked at Lucky’s on White Road at Aborn Road)
“I think they maybe should be regulated. The owner should have traininig and know more about such a pet and the owner should be responsible for that training. The training should teach them how to handle that specific breed of dog. It’s more than protection, people get such dogs to protect themselves and their families. The dog is intended to protect, but it also should be safe.”

“I think they should be regulated, at least to the extent that they are properly trained to be socialized instead of fighting. They also should be neutered and the same regulations should also apply to Rottweilers.”

“I think there should be regulations, but I don’t know what regulations the city has in mind. I think a permit, training classes and aggressive dog classes. Training dogs can be challenging.”

“Yes, I think they should be banned. They have attacked people too many times and there are many other breeds of dogs people can choose from."

“Probably not completely banned but definitely regulated. There are too many news stories about people—mainly kids—getting injured. They should be spayed or neutered, they should have to go to classes and only registered dogs, not strays.”

“Yes, pit bulls should definitely be regulated. I hate to see them walk in [to get groomed] because often they are such aggressive dogs. I think pit bulls should be registered and definitely all be evaluated before they go home with anyone. A class to socialize them is a good idea too.”
