Pamela Price receives commendation

The San Jose City Council awarded Pamela Price a commendation at the Tuesday, Jan. 8 council session.

Cited for “her excellent work in the community for the greater good of this city,” Price has been a community volunteer in District 8 for many years, according to Vice Mayor Dave Cortese. Price’s activities range from picking up trash on her walks throughout Edenvale to aiding residents on a number of causes throughout the city.

“It is truly residents like Pamela Price who set the standards and ultimately take part and keep our district safe, clean and pleasant,” Cortese said prior to handing her the commendation.

Price thanked Frank Short, Mayor Chuck Reed, Cortese and all the council members for recognizing her work and for noting “that I do care about my neighborhood and I do care about my community.”

The former educator said that her career helped provide a positive learning environment for students and their parents. One of her current neighbors is an Evergreen District elementary school, “ and I feel that’s part of my responsibility to make sure that the school is safe and well cared for and that the children there can have a good experience.

“Part of what I do, because I walk a lot between my neighborhood and a commercial center down the road, is to make sure that the pathway is open for the students at the college in my neighborhood as well as the seniors who pass my home every day on the way to the community center. There are always a number of issues that need addressing.”

Price was then handed the commendation, which acknowledges her as a “dedicated and gifted teacher” as well as an inspiration to the community for her leadership and commitment for a number of years. It also recognizes that she has made a difference in many people’s lives by helping to keep the community beautiful through her clean up and recycling.
