Local educator/writer to address ‘Villagers’

In November and early December, Dr. Rod Cryer will lead a series of workshops at the Villages Golf and Country Club about the ecology of the Villages and the prospects of installing alternative energy systems at the Villages.

The presentations, sponsored by the Senior Academy for Education, are titled, “What you never knew about the Villages” to be presented on Nov. 17 and Nov. 21 (3 to 5:30 p.m.) and “How we can keep the green in Evergreen” on Dec. 4 (7 to 8:30 p.m.).

As a former teacher and school administrator, Cryer has maintained lifelong interests in both science and writing.
For the last three years he has been accumulating out-of-the-ordinary information about his “Villages” retirement home. Information from the United States Geological Service concerning the local area’s geology, together with his ongoing studies of indigenous plants and animals in the area have lead him to discover a series of unexpected facts about the immediate area.
