Cy Mann is the clear choice for Open Space Director

The Santa Clara County Open Space Authority needs Cy Mann to represent District 7. Mann’s knowledge of environmental and land use will be a huge asset to the Open Space Authority."

Mann is a life long resident of our district. He believes in smart growth, striking a balance between growth and the preservation of open spaces for our community.

Mann is committed to working with the authority's board members and our district residents to find ways to continue to purchase lands for the public's best interest and improve public access to open space lands.

Mann’s opponent, Kalvin Gill, sent an email he recently forwarded to his yahoo group in which he promoted offensive and graphic views of Vice President Candidate Sarah Palin. In response, I received an email from Gill explaining that the message was sent by mistake. Mistake or no mistake, the content of Gill’s email demonstrates his lack of judgment and leadership ability.

Cy Mann is the clear choice for Open Space Director.

I urge you to elect Cy Mann on November 4th.

Cortese can make a difference

Having discussions with many voters while walking precincts this past year validated my personal belief that San Jose Vice Mayor Dave Cortese is the ONLY choice for District 3 County Supervisor on November 4. Dave has been a businessman in Silicon Valley for decades, and he has used those business skills as an elected official such that the City of San Jose has had a balanced budget each year he’s been in office. Wherever he goes he brings positive change and a clear vision that leads to success. We’re in a budget crisis at the County level and need someone at the table who has handled budget challenges with success. Let’s get Dave in that decision-making position at the County where he can contribute his expertise to make a real difference.

District 3 needs Cortese

Kudos to the Mercury News for highlighting San Jose Vice Mayor Dave Cortese’s experience with budgets and issues on the scale of the county.  Economic recovery has to happen locally and our next District 3 County Supervisor needs to be experienced in tough budget decisions that encourage business to stay and grow in Santa Clara County.  Dave Cortese gained experience while on the East Side School Board and for the last 8 years he has worked to balance the budget for the City of San Jose. The experience of working with a large budget and representing  San Jose in discussions with the County gives him the experience to be effective from day one.  We need his experience at this critical time.

Choose Cortese for Supervisor

Our County currently faces unparalleled challenges.  We must choose a Supervisor with broad experience and knowledge in areas affecting our quality of life.  Dave Cortese has these qualities, and a successful track record in bringing together community members, professionals and government officials to tackle these challenges.

He is a leader and consensus builder; an organizer and visionary in areas of land use, open space, educational resources and in empowering neighborhood groups.

For years Dave has organized communities to fight for education resources in Sacramento, worked tirelessly to ensure public education has the necessary input for all future growth, and mentored and empowered diverse communities to work to intelligently plan for our District’s future growth.  As an ESUHSD Board member, he provided the leadership to ensure quality education for our children.

Dave Cortese has the experience and dedication we need to meet today’s challenges head on.

Supervisors need Cortese

The County Board of Supervisors needs someone with the know-how to expand our parks system and preserve open space in Evergreen.  He has a strong track record for working with community members to design beautiful parks such as Fowler Creek Park and creating open space for families to enjoy our rolling hills.  Electing Cortese to the Board of Supervisors is the right decision for any resident who treasures and respects the great outdoors.

Best choice is Pat Waite

I urge my friends and neighbors in District 8 to think carefully about the choice you will be making when you vote for our next City Council Representative. Please look beyond the long lists of endorsements and contributors  and the ulterior motives that come with them. Consider for yourself the experience and qualifications the two candidates offer as a potential member of the team that operates the government of the tenth-largest city in the nation. I hope you will conclude, as I have, that the best choice is to vote for Pat Waite.

Herrera is a strong advocate

I am one of the storeowners that suffered from the lack of retail activity at Evergreen Village Square. When Lunardi’s left in the cover of darkness last year, I was shocked and appalled since my store is a stone’s throw from the former supermarket site. I opened my optometry practice in anticipation that the neighborhood foot traffic and family oriented shopping center would allow me to become a fabric of this community that I love.

I ask all of you to vote and elect Rose Herrera to the city council serving District 8. She is a true champion and a strong advocate for everything good in Evergreen.

If we can capture her energy and spirit that Rose Herrera has passionately put forward for Evergreen Village Square and dispense it for the next 4 to 8 years at the City Council, our City and Evergreen would benefit immensely from this gregarious leader.
