Pleasant Acres 4-H Club wins at Santa Clara County Fair

Pleasant Acres 4-H Club members took home many awards this year at the Santa Clara County Fair.
The "Outstanding 4-H Stills Exhibitor" award went to Loraine Johnson, who sewed a black 100 percent wool crepe dress and jacket. The "Champion Swine," "Advanced Swine Showmanship," and "Reserve Supreme Champion Swine" awards went to Jailena Caputo. Many other Pleasant Acres members were awarded various prizes in the food, arts and crafts, home furnishings, and computer science categories. Pleasant Acres 4-H Club encompasses the Evergreen and Berryessa communities of San Jose.
4-H is a youth organization, ages 5-19, that focuses in developing leadership, citizenship, and life skills in its members. There are a variety of projects available in 4-H, ranging from animals to clothing to shooting sports. For those interested in more information about 4-H or in joining 4-H, the club will be hosting a "Mega Field Day" at Emma Prusch Park on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. There will be an information table, project exhibits, information on how to raise and care for animals, and many other activities.
