July 15
Armed robbery
2900 Block of East Capitol Expressway
Two unidentified Hispanic male adult suspects stole beer from a market at the above location. The suspects brandished a knife at the store clerk when he tried to recover the stolen beer. The clerk was uninjured. The suspects fled in a vehicle and are at large.
July 22
Officer involved accident
White Road/Coldwater Drive
While two officers were on a vehicle stop of a suspected drunk driver, an unrelated suspect (also found to be DUI) collided with a patrol vehicle and caused it to move forward and hit another patrol vehicle. The second DUI suspect suffered a cut to his lip but refused medical attention. All three vehicles suffered damage and were not drivable. Both suspects were booked for DUI.
July 22
Robbery, assault with a deadly weapon
Tully Road, between McLaughlin/King
A 20-year-old male was walking on Tully Road when four Hispanic male adults, ages 20-25, approached and demanded his money. When he refused, they assaulted him. One subject had a knife and injured the victim. The suspects took cash from the victim and fled. The suspects remain outstanding.
Brigadoon Way at Camperdown Way homicide update
On July 8 at 1:47 a.m., San Jose Police officers were dispatched to Brigadoon Way at Camperdown Way to a disturbance call. Officers arrived on the scene and located the victim who was later pronounced dead at the scene by the San Jose Fire Department and Paramedics. According to witnesses, there was a physical altercation between the victim and unknown subjects.
Since the homicide occurred, detectives have learned the following:
The victim and friends were at a house party near Brigadoon Park. At some point, the victim and one of his friends went to retrieve something from the victim’s vehicle. Once outside, the victim and his friend were surrounded by numerous gang members. Detectives have stressed that there is no information to indicate that the victim was associated to or affiliated in any way with any gang. The group of suspects began attacking the victim and
his friend. The victim was stabbed and beaten with a blunt object and his friend was severely beaten. At least two other people who came to the aid of the victim were also severely beaten.
Although five suspects - Ediberto Cabrera, age 20, Alex Cruz Garcia, age 20, and three juveniles – have been arrested in this case, the investigation is ongoing.
