Club One initially opened its doors June 1 prior to the grand opening. Attendees at the grand opening had the opportunity to enter a raffle contest for a Nintendo Wii game system, an autographed Sharks jersey, a zamboni ride and other prizes. Proceeds for the raffle contest went to the Sharks Foundation, which was created in 1994 to meet the educational, social and cultural needs of the community. The foundation has quickly evolved and expanded beyond its original charter and has since donated over $3.4 million to more than 85 local beneficiaries. In addition to its grant program, The Sharks Foundation manages educational programs, hosts major fundraisers, executes pledge programs and implements community outreach events.
"As a company headquartered in the Bay Area, we are so excited to extend our service offerings in San Jose and have created this grand opening celebration as an opportunity to thank the community, our founding members and our new neighbors for welcoming us to the area," said Jim Mizes, Club One President and CEO. "Looking to continually invest in the community we serve, I invite all South Bay families to come and join us for a day of summer fitness fun – while helping to raise money for the San Jose Sharks charity arm; The Sharks Foundation."
"We are thrilled to be partnering with Club One on their newest fitness destination in San Jose," said Rob Jaynes, Director of Fan Development & The Sharks Foundation. "With their interactive Playcare area, full aquatics offerings and group fitness classes dedicated to families and children, Club One at Silver Creek is truly a destination for the entire community – focused on providing a safe, fun and active environment for the youth of San Jose."
As part of the grand opening festivities, guests were invited to enjoy complimentary workouts, innovative fitness amenities and programs of Club One. Other offerings included a Banyan Spa for a relaxing massage, as well as a cardio salsa class, among others.
Club One will serve as the fitness anchor for the 200,000 square-foot Silver Creek Sportsplex, a multi-faceted "family sports facility" featuring in-line hockey rinks, soccer fields, restaurants and retail space.
"We're proud to welcome Club One to the Silver Creek Sportsplex family. Club One brings industry expertise, exceptional management and innovative fitness and wellness solutions to our sportsplex community," said David Maley, general manager of Silver Creek Sportsplex and San Jose Sharks alum. "Together, we're thrilled to offer the first and largest destination family sports facility to the Bay Area."
Located in the Silver Creek community just south of San Jose, this 60,000-square foot fitness club marks Club One's fifth addition to the South Bay making fitness easier than ever for area residents and families.
The Club One at Silver Creek boasts family features such as the 8,000-square foot childcare center, two swimming pools (one for lessons and the other for laps), Internet kiosks and family locker rooms.
