Evergreen nurse practitioner Karen Ketner honored during national AANP Conference

Nurse practitioners and nurse practitioner advocates, recipients of the prestigious State Awards for Excellence, were honored during the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) 22nd National Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana, June 20 – 24.

The State Award for Nurse Practitioner Excellence, founded in 1991, recognizes a Nurse practitioner in each state who demonstrates excellence in practice, research, NP education or community affairs.

This year’s winner in California is Evergreen resident and nurse practitioner, Karen Ketner. Ketner practices as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Kaiser Permanente in Redwood City, California. She also teaches at San Jose State University where she is Co-Director of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program. Ketner is President of the South Bay to Monterey Chapter of the state nurse practitioner association, the California Association for Nurse Practitioners (CANP). She is also a member of the Board of Directors and Chairs the Public Relations Committee for CANP.

The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners was founded in 1985 and is the oldest and largest national professional organization for NP’s of all specialties. With more than 21,500 individual members and over 130 group members, AANP provides national representation for approximately 95,000 nurse practitioners.
