Parent expresses concerns over bad driving at EVHS
Editor,
As a concerned parent of a student at Evergreen Valley High school, I thought I should write to you. In light of the tragic accident involving two students on Yerba Buena Road, I want to ask the authorities to address the traffic problem and reckless driving in the Evergreen High School parking lot and at Ruby. I was involved in communications with the city, which eventually led to the installation of the "No Left Turn" sign at the entrance at Ruby from the high school parking lot. I have noticed, however, that many people still insist on turning left anyway, and what is worse is that they block the view of the people who are trying to turn right while stopping to check for upcoming vehicles from the left. I have been rear-ended twice since the installation of the sign at that exact spot. What will it take for the authorities to attempt to solve the problem? Having observed the speeding, careless driving, and disrespect for the laws by the students and adult drivers, I am afraid that my children will get into accidents when they are driving to and from school.
