Longer-lasting treatment for facial wrinkles and folds

A longer-lasting cosmetic filler called Radiesse has recently been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is now available at Clarity Medical Spa for the treatment of facial wrinkles and folds, such as the nasolabial folds.

San Jose physician Dr. Donna Lee reports that only Radiesse has advanced calcium-based microsphere technology that both restores volume and promotes the growth of the body’s own collagen. She enthusiastically embraces the next-generation product, citing its long-term cosmetic benefits that produce a youthful beauty to the aging face without surgery, downtime or the risks of permanent implants.

“Radiesse is a better choice for patients who are ready for the next-generation dermal filler that keeps them looking better even longer. In our experience, a typical Radiesse treatment produces immediate cosmetic improvement with results that last an average of nine to 18 months, which is considerably longer than the former leading filler,” said Lee, who has successfully treated Radiesse patients. “Patients today lead busy, active lives so they want a treatment that offers excellent results without a lot of effort, downtime or need for repeat injections.”

Designed with safety, durability and longevity in mind, Radiesse is composed of micron-sized calcium-based particles in a water-based gel carrier that form a scaffold around which the body generates new collagen. According to Lee, this unique mechanism of action is responsible for tissue anchoring as well as preserving the augmentation. The filler is gently injected into the skin in small amounts with a very tiny needle and is particularly well suited for treatment of the wrinkles between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds) and other facial aesthetic applications.

“Radiesse is raising the bar to become the new standard for the treatment of nasolabial folds because it delivers a safe and effective enhancement that stimulates new tissue growth and collagen deposition,” said Lee. “This clinical response rebuilds the skin’s foundation so that wrinkles or folds treated with Radiesse maintain the aesthetic correction over the long term. Overall, Radiesse is a worthwhile investment that meets our patients’ demands, and often exceeds their expectations with high satisfaction.”
