ESD celebrates bittersweet goodbye as 18 employees retire
By Carol Rosen
Staff Writer
May 22 was a bittersweet afternoon for employees of Evergreen School District during an afternoon reception at Quimby Oak Middle School to celebrate the retirement of 18 district employees.
"These remarkable employees have dedicated many years of their lives to the support of the children in the Evergreen community,” said Superintendent Clif Black. “ I would like to thank them for all their hard work and wish them as much success in their future endeavors as they’ve had here in Evergreen."
Many have served more than 25 years, including Jane Alexander, Ray Mocherman, Robin Bailey, Addie DeMedeiros, Lynne Gates, Marilyn Goin, Art King and Sharon Hurley.
The tears and laughter flowed as the teachers and classified employees said goodbye to their co-workers and friends after years of service to the district. Some had spent their entire career in the district.
Besides an appetizing spread of hors d’oeuvers and dessert, the retirees received Hawaiian leis and a gift. Each school also put together a memory board filled with pictures, notes and good wishes.
